Monica Uhm

Monica is a singer-songwriter based in New York. She began fronting various alt-rock bands and performed in some of the most iconic underground NYC venues such as Elbow Room, ACME Underground, Kenny's Castaways, Spiral Café, Downtime and the Lion's Den. She eventually moved on as a solo singer-songwriter and collaborates with others on a project by project basis.

Her genre is self-labeled “philoso-folk” given the push-pull of small everyday snapshots with the bigger questions of life in her writing.

Monica released her first album, "Six Years to Zanzibar" as a songwriter's scrapbook in 2000. It was recorded one summer over a series of late nights. With one exception, each song is a live single-take, single-track recording of vocals and guitar. Originally intended as scratch demos, these recordings are flawed. But they are real and captures the spirit of the all-analog recording experience. All words and music (c)2000 by Monica Uhm. Recorded by Kenny Lienhardt at Sonic Studios NYC.

Monica is currently working on her next studio album with a new band collaboration Trio Of Awesuhm. The album "Cowboys&Aiens" is due out April 2018.
