Nathan Mitchell

International multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Nathan Mitchell is one of the most sought after artist in the smooth jazz/soul arena. Whether performing Gospel, R&B, Funk, Blues, or Smooth Jazz, his creative integrity is sure to entertain all music lovers both young and old.
A native of Panama City, FL, the Innervision Records’ artist was influenced by his father, a prominent gospel musician, choir director, and Air Force officer. Once Nathan’s own musical endeavors took flight, he never looked down as his career began to skyrocket. A graduate of Rollins College with a degree in Classical Voice and Masters of Music from Virginia Commonwealth University, he approaches every project with detailed precision.

From the time he first began playing, up until now, Nathan’s gift has soared, displaying unrivaled versatility heard by all the right ears. His reputation of being an outstanding and distinguished keyboardist led to him playing alongside and producing for prominent award-winning acts such as Nick Colionne, Jackiem Joyner, Paul Brown, Will Donato, Jonathan Butler, Stokley Williams (Mint Condition), DW3, Lin Rountree, Marcus Anderson, Dawn Robinson (En Vogue/ Lucy Pearls), Irene Cara and other respected names in the music industry.

A self-professed student of smooth jazz since 2011, while touring with saxophonist Jessy J in Europe, Nathan’s unique style and sound caught the eye of the national smooth jazz industry which he was subsequently signed to a recording contract. His debut single "For All Eternity,” was released in 2013 with rave reviews. The single featuring international saxophonist Marcus Anderson and co-produced by Grammy Award winning guitarist Paul Brown, was the most added single on all national media syndicates while also charting on Billboard’s Top 30.

Fast forwarding two years later, Nathan experienced a defining moment that would further characterize his sound and catapult his career. “Everything came into full light in 2015,” he says, “when I was subconsciously hearing different melodies to songs I’d been producing for various artists in the industry.”

One of those artist is James Lloyd, one of the founders and keyboardist for the iconic smooth jazz group Pieces of a Dream. Nathan wrote and co-produced Lloyd’s debut single “Play it Forward,” which spent 8 weeks on Billboard’s Top 10 Smooth Jazz Chart. “I was on tour overseas, traveling from Australia to Alaska, when it dawned on me that I should use my talents to produce songs for myself,” he recalls. “The lessons I learned producing for others, I believe, prepared me for this next musical venture in my life.”

The true essence of Nathan’s musical influences are manifested on his newest release, Smooth Groove (2018). Which features Nathan’s top 20 Billboard and top 10 European UK Soul Charts song “Inspiration” which held its place on the Nielson Smooth Jazz BILLBOARD charts for 9 weeks. This classy track represents a revolving multifarious of all of the musical influences that have shaped Nathan’s distinct sound.
