Negative Nelly and The Silver Linings

Negative Nelly and The Silver Linings is a project started by former I Want to Quit the Band guitarist Rachael Parenta. Parenta composed “Punch a Banker in the Face” and wanted to record it. She recruited Justin a heavy metal drummer living in Queens to lay down the beat. It should be noted that Justin is actually a very talented musician and out classes the rest of the ensemble. Rachael also had former Quit the Band ukulele and harmonica player, Rob, play keyboards on the track. At the time of the recording Rachael was mad at the Quit the Band the keyboardist and singer Jessica so she was not invited to play on the session. However, now Rachael can’t remember why she was angry and everyone is friends again. The track was engineered by Quit the Band’s bassist, Tom, who was not allowed to play on the album but was thrown a bone and asked to engineer, primarily because he owns a copy of Logic Express along with a mixing board and mics. Tom also gets co-producing credits on the track because of the number of times he demanded Parenta re-sing the vocals. The Negative Nelly and the Silver Linings band photo has Rob on drums, though he can’t play the instrument and Rob’s wife Melinda on keyboards, she is currently taking lessons on the instrument. There is talk of an I Want to Quit the Band reunion. If that happens they might just keep the Negative Nelly and The Silver Linings name as that band now has a recorded and distributed single. Last names have been omitted from the artist bio to protect band members from losing their day jobs.
