Odin was born in Red Deer, Alberta and raised an hour south of the city on a family farm. He attended school in the town of Bowden where a close friend, Billy Kraal introduced Rap music and Hip Hop culture to him. Although Eminem, Tupac, and Hieroglyphics were the originals that wowed him, he soon had a large collection of the music.

Odin began writing rhymes inspired by the relateable music and the movie 8 Mile under the pseudonym Dezperado. Eventually, out of necessity he began dabbling in the production of the music. He quickly caught on and made several small scale CD's he distributed to his friends. As his skills grew he wrote the last of the small scale releases, The Prairie King EP (of which several tracks were re-released on The Dezperado Mixtape).

Fueled by repeated failures, from the inability to hold a job, to the poor quality of his previously released works Odin as Dezperado strived for excellence and self betterment.

As he developed as an artist he felt a change of name to better describe who he was, both on and off the mic, changed his name to Odin in 2017. He chose this name, in part, to honor his Danish blood lines. Odin comes from Norse mythology as a God associated with knowledge, poetry, death, healing, and battle. Spencer felt this suited him as an artist and a person and adopted it as his stage name. The first album released under this name was Coming From The Underground in 2017.

Odin is influenced by many artists of a broad range from Elvis Presley, KoRn, Yelawolf, Struggle, and Megadeth to Eminem, Rakim, KRS-One, Classified, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Isaac Hayes and many more (often changing by the week).
