Orla Fallon

"I have been privileged in the places that music has brought me,” says Órla Fallon.

Given the places she’s been these past years, it would be difficult to disagree. His Holiness the Pope, US Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and Irish President Mary McAleese, have all been a part of Órla’s audiences throughout these past six years, both as a solo artist and with the phenomenally successful group Celtic Woman.

“Playing in such places as the White House or the Vatican, you never realize when you’re growing up that you’ll ever see inside these places, let alone sing and play. I think that’s the wonder of the whole thing. It’s amazing the doors that music can open up for you!”

Órla Fallon is a singer / harpist who comes from the village of Knockananna in Co.Wicklow, Ireland.

Since leaving Celtic Woman in December 2008, Órla has been carving out her own successful solo path. Her version of The Water is Wide featured on The US soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful, as well as during the Emmy Awards in 2009.

In December of 2010, Órla's first solo public television special, Órla Fallon's Celtic Christmas, put her back dead centre in the PBS television universe. More than 100 stations across the US aired the show, and special guests included her former Celtic Woman band mate, Meav; American Idol runner-up, David Archuleta; the original Riverdance choir, Anúna; and the country singer Mark Wills.

Órla Fallon's Celtic Christmas, shot at the Polk Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee in August 2010, included a DVD of the show and a special companion CD that included 20 time Grammy award winner and Country Music Hall of Famer, Vince Gill. Gill makes a special appearance on the CD for a duet of The Little Drummer Boy. The CD went to number 4 on the Billboard World Music Charts and on Christmas eve of 2010 the show aired on Irish television, RTE 1. That same year her other Christmas CD Winter, Fire and Snow, reached number 10 on the Billboard World Music Awards in The US.

In 2011 Órla was back with yet another public television special entitled My Land, which starred Órla in an Irish musical, geographical and cultural celebration featuring the legendary Dubliners, Tommy Fleming, Damien Dempsey and The Dublin Gospel Choir as special guests.

The show was shot on location throughout Ireland, including the Northern region, along with a full length concert taped in Dublin at the majestic Royal Hospital Kilmainham, one of the finest 17th century buildings throughout all of Ireland. Additional shootings for the show took place at various locations such as spectacular Cliffs of Moher, Slea Head, Dingle Forest Park in Gougane Barra, The Rock Of Cashel in Dublin, Strangford Lough and Downpatrick.

The companion CD to the My Land DVD reached number 4 in the World Music Charts and won two Irish Music Association Awards for Best New Irish CD in February 2012.

Órla, who credits her late Grandmother for instilling an abiding love of Irish music and culture, is now carving out a brilliant solo career for herself. In 2011 she negotiated a successful 50 date coast to coast tour of the US, as well as performing in concerts throughout Ireland. She was named on the Billboard Best of 2011 charts, reaching number 4 on the World Music Charts, and her album Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas was number 14 on the Best Selling World Music Album Charts in that same year.

2012 sees Órla working on her new album, which is due for release at Christmas, and she is also looking forward to touring Holland in December for the very first time.
