Out of Alba

Out of Alba, Prince George’s premier Celtic band is a quintet that will have been delighting audiences, both young and old, for the past 19 years. The members include Irishman Alan O’Reilly, Canadian Jim Sayle, American-Welsh Carolyn Kelly, and two Scots, Margaret and Jim Coyle.
O'Reilly’s percussion talents led him to the bodhran (a traditional Celtic drum) that he plays with veracity and flare. Jim Sayle, a fiddler with enormous talent, brings sensitivity to the fiddle. Kelly’s whistle playing and composing brings virtuosity to the band akin to the Irish players of old. Margaret Coyle sings with the power and passion that the music deserves. Jim Coyle’s song writing, guitar and vocals brings energy, rounding out the group.
Largely a concert band, Out of Alba also perform at dances (ceilidhs), plays in pubs, clubs, concert halls, theatres, house parties, a number of folk festivals throughout the province and have even had a mosh pit going.
They have enjoyed many collaborative performances including The Watt school of Irish dancing, The Prince George Cantata singers, The Prince George Symphony Orchestra, Spirit of the West, Delhi 2 Dublin, Scottish folk legend, Dick Gaughan and BCs own Art Napoleon.

They have just released their third CD, Nithi Sessions.
