Padenrich Station

Padenrich Station and their debut album, By Way of Alabama, came about serendipitously after an almost forgotten childhood friendship was renewed between Jamie Hill of New York and Marie Wright of South Carolina. Over email, they shared details of their almost fifteen-year absence from one another’s lives. They learned that after moving away from their hometowns in Alabama, Hill had honed his musical skills while Wright had developed a passion for crafting words. Their individual talents seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces. They saw this as an opportunity -- a chance they had to take.

With almost 800 miles separating them, the Internet provided a way to move forward. Soon, music and lyrics were flowing back and forth between them as easily as if they were taking turns pushing an old tire swing -- a tire swing with a really long rope. Though working so far apart wasn’t ideal, months later they each looked up from their laptops to find their collaboration had produced something they wanted to share.

In the summer of 2012, Wright traveled to Hill’s home studio in upstate New York to lay down the final tracks. By Way of Alabama is the result. Their story-driven lyrics and delicate harmonies meld with acoustic guitar, banjo, and mandolin to give the album a sweet mix of indie acoustic folk.
