PATOIRLOVE is the artist name/persona for Danielle Patoir. A songwriter from the age of 9 1/2, she also plays guitar & mandolin & dabbles with other instruments. Take the captivating timbre/ alternative vocals of Dolores O' Riordan from the Cranberries, Tegan & Sara, and Florence & the Machine mixed with trance inducing electronic textures like found w/ the xx, Phantogram, Pink Floyd, & the Knife, & the deeply rooted grunge/alternative tone of Nirvana & maybe then you can define "Patoirlove." Though it is impossible to put her in one genre, "indietronica w/ an alternative edge" might suite her best for now. Branching out to other genres is happening though as she is getting more into electronics. Other big influences include: Portishead, Metric, Lana Del Rey, Alanis Morissette, Bloc Party, The Cure, & Björk.

Patoirlove writes very melodic repetitive song structures w/ catchy hooks that pop up in all different forms. Adding a unique twist in the way she plays the mandolin, she gives off a tribal feeling that is backed up nicely with an assortment of percussion instruments/drum styles. Thievery Corporation is a big influence of hers when it comes to adding grooves that almost seem native. When it isn't sounding tribal, the mandolin is piercing through the song like glass. When there isn't mandolin, there are atmospheric guitar riffs &/or electronics/samples/synths to do the job. Listening to a lot of electronics, EDM, & remixes by a vast array of DJs such as Avicii, Morgan Page & Tiesto have really influenced the direction she is going in as well. It is best to wear headphones for the full experience because often there are underlying effects including panning echoes from ear to ear, phaser, reverb, delay & backup vocals.

Her words are often very lyrical/visual/descriptive like Regina Spektor or Bright Eyes, full of passion and truth, & sometimes metaphorical. Delivering new concepts to the world, she aims to open up the imaginations of the listeners & bring them to another place. She wants to deliver positive messages that can help people relate/cope with life & spread "love". She is truly channeling a higher power when she writes, keeping what is real on the page in ink. It is felt through the heart & soul, the mind & body, the stars & universe & most of the time experienced or dreamt of first hand.
