Phil Orr & More

PHIL ORR & MORE is an evolving trio of seasoned multi-genre creator-performers enjoying the scenery of each other’s minds, the bouquet of our interplay, and the heat in the beat, whatever style we meet.

Pianist/composer/leader PHIL ORR has toured and performed with Vic Damone, Sandler and Young, Grammy-winners Diane Scanlon and Arturo O’Farrill, among many others. His diverse background as pianist, organist, wind instrumentalist, conductor and singer/chorister draw audiences into his sound-worlds of diverse combinations of jazz, classical and popular styles from multiple eras. An eclectic composer, Orr’s works for concert band, chamber instrumental ensembles, solo voice, congregational singing, keyboards and choirs have been performed in more than 150 venues internationally, earned him awards from ASCAP and the NJ State Council on the Arts, and featured on 11 album-length recordings.

MICHAEL O'BRIEN’s two-decade international career as bassist and composer has teamed him with Harry Connick, Jr., Ruben Blades, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Gene Pitney, Patrizio Buanne, Ted Nash and many others. He works continually among various NYC groups and is a regular member of the Michelle Walker, Kyobe Oyobe and Sandro Albert quartets. His festival performances include Lincoln Center, IAJE, Odessa, Port au Prince International and American Composers Forum’s Sonic Circuits festivals. The acclaimed high-energy string quartet, Ethel, presented the world premiere of his original work, Pine, in their 2011 performance at the Kennedy Center.

SEAN DIXON creates and collaborates as composer, producer, drummer, percussionist and bassist. His music with the cross-genre duo SLV and the avant-pop band Zammuto has brought him before international audiences and landed him on the 2014 and 2015 NPR Songs We Love lists. He recently toured with Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers and paid tribute to the late electronica pioneer, Jean Jacques Perrey, in a New York performance with Gotye. Crediting Prince, Elvin Jones and Bruce Lee as his primary musical influences, his art has been deeply shaped through long association with Kakande and its leader, Famoro Dioubate.
