Randy Thorderson

Randy was raised in a small Northern Californian town called Davis. It was there that his fire was first lit for music. Although he began his Piano studies at age 5, and started playing Guitar at age 9, it was not until his Freshman Year in High School when he heard his first Jazz Ensemble (his own High School Jazz Band backing Trombone great Bill Watrous) that his love for Jazz was locked in for life. That concert moved his soul, and changed everything.

Randy longed to make music, particularly in the recording studio. He dreamed of somehow getting into a recording studio, any recording studio, and capturing his ideas. He attended BYU on a music scholarship and studied Studio Recording and Composition. He took to the studio like a duck to water. He developed his skills first as an Recording Engineer, then as a Producer, and eventually as a Composer/Arranger. Without a doubt, one of his favorite activities is to help new Artists feel the joys of hearing their music professionally produced for the first time.

He now owns his own Studio (Crystaline Studios), and loves helping light the fire of other musicians. Mostly the "man behind the curtain", another turn occurred in 1999 when friends took him and his wife to the Catalina Jazz Festival. He was so inspired listening to mega-talented Dave Koz, Peter White, and others, he decided to take a shot at his own Smooth Jazz CD. He released it via (back when "" bubble was at its peak), and the CD gained listeners world-wide. One of the cuts, "Skippin' Stones" jumped up the charts. Randy even had the opportunity to return to Catalina Jazz Festival the following year, but this time as a performer on the main stage contributing his Keyboard/Guitar skills to Smooth Jazz Artists Sam Cardon and Michael Dowdle.

Then the "" bubble burst...and the distribution for his CD all but disappeared.

Randy took a long break from his own music, and helped other artists realize their music dreams. But in 2012, Randy decided it was time to do another CD along with re-releasing the original "Smile for Me" CD. The new CD seemed to take forever, as Randy struggled to find time to work on it. But he finally finished in November 2013. Randy tried some new music approaches while staying true to the styles and sounds that his fans enjoyed on "Smile for Me".

Randy is a one-man-band. He knows his music may be better using other, more talented musicians, but he loves the journey of pulling the ideas out of his head himself. All the music is played with his own hands, using all the amazing tools available in today's music production world. The skills of the studio musician has changed so much. For example, when Randy plays drums, he uses his fingers on a keyboard instead of sticks on a drum head. But all the Guitar work is played the old fashion way...with a Guitar, an Amp, and a pick...and turn it up.

Randy is very excited to present for your listening pleasure JABBERTALKY. A little funk, a little blues, a little fun, a little relaxation...all with the heart and soul of a musician who loves share a little of his world with you.
