Red Clay

From the hard edge of Hip Hop to the smooth grooves of R&B, the trio known as Red Clay encompasses all genres music into their sound leaving a unique blend/mix of Hip Hop styles. BARON (MC/ Songwriter/Producer/+) brings the vision through voice. Ten Chakar (Producer/DJ/+) is the groove manipulator with the fader. General Lou (Business/ Hypeman) the alternator.
The name "Red Clay " is a reflection of our human essence. "Red" symbolizes the love, passion, & commitment to music and Hip Hop culture. "Clay" is for the foundation, the earth, and adaptability through many generations of music.
In September of 2000, "Red Clay " was featured in "The Source" magazine's "Unsigned Hype" column, which led to recording the pilot episode for the television show "The Source Sound Lab" on The UPN Network. By 2003, Red Clay released their debut album entitled "Da Royal Era", a compilation that was received with great reviews from various publications and websites. "Da Royal Era" has sold over 3,000 units+ independently. Other compilations & mixtapes include, The Red Dawn-New Sun Rise Vol.1 + 2.
Red Clay has also performed in Universities and Colleges all across the northeastern region (Rutgers, Skidmore, Wheaton, Purchase, Pace) along side New York City hot spots such as The Knitting Factory, CBGB's and S.O.B's. Their energetic live shows have allowed them to gain recognition leading them to perform with the likes of Dead Prez, Common, Talib Kweli, & Three Six Mafia. With many styles that reinforce Hip Hop culture, Red Clay has also helped organize Hip Hop events with colleges and local promoters, as well as working with The G.rassroots A.rtist M.ovemEnt (G.A.ME) in working to promote the importance of healthcare for artists of all kind.
Rawkus Records has digitally re-released The Red Dawn as part of The Rawkus 50, a “who’s who” of the hottest emerging artists in Hip Hop today. In addition, Red Clay has recently released an EP entitled, Cold Summer. Songs from the EP have made their way onto radio play lists and mixtapes internationally. Now the opportunity has arrived to bring their music directly to the masses and across the globe.
