Rick Cyge

“I love finger-style guitar! I’ve been doing it for most of my life! In the idiom of ‘finger-style guitar,’ I can orchestrate arrangements of pieces of music replete with melody, bass lines, counterpoint and other embellishments on one instrument. How cool is that?
I’ve developed my unique approach to distilling the best of the songs and tunes I love into their essential elements and combining them onto the six strings in a manner that expresses the soul of that piece and allows me to put my personality into the fresh interpretation.
My love affair with the acoustic guitar began long ago. I was barely old enough to handle a guitar when I first heard the likes of ‘Peter, Paul & Mary’ and the ‘Kingston Trio.’ That was enough to get my attention and fire my imagination. Then, when I was only 13, I discovered The Beatles, and they forever changed my world.” - Rick Cyge

A Little History:
Acoustic guitarist, Rick Cyge, has been doing what he loves for 40 years! He cut his teeth performing as a singer/guitarist in the vibrant New England folk music scene. More recently (since 1988), he performs with his wife and partner, flutist Lynn Trombetta as the group ‘Meadowlark’ where Cyge plays acoustic steel string and nylon string guitars and mandolin.

Cyge’s compositions for Meadowlark blend influences of contemporary folk and pop, Celtic, Country Blues, New Age and World Music. His original guitar compositions are finger-style pieces in various open tunings.

He was voted “Best Musician in Sedona” in KUDOS Reader‘s choice awards. There he has become well known to locals and Arizona tourists for his live solo performances. He often uses a phrase sampler and pre-recorded tracks of his own playing to provide a full, layered sound for his subtle and intricate arrangements of popular tunes by artists like The Beatles, James Taylor, Motown and Simon and Garfunkel.

His discography includes three solo finger-style guitar albums and nine Meadowlark releases.
