Robin Aleman

A native of New York, Robin Aleman’s smooth vocals have been engaging audiences for many years. She has been performing steadily in the tri-state area, filling houses wherever she plays with her original arrangements. Recent engagements have brought her to Mannahatta Lounge and Cafe Vivaldi in New York City and she is a yearly participant at the Settlers Inn Summer Jazz Series in Pennsylvania. In 2007, Robin was listed in Volume IV of the World Who’s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment.

While attending Fordham University, she took elective classes in music theory and musical theater. Not long after graduating, Robin began studying voice with Phil Campanella. Although she studied classical music initially, it wasn’t long before she realized that jazz was her true calling and began studying that genre exclusively with acclaimed jazz artists, among them Dena DeRose, Tierney Sutton, Barry Harris and Nancy Marano. Robin was also one of only 8 people chosen to participate in the very first master class held by Ann Hampton Callaway, Laurel Masse and Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer.

In addition to the various jazz rooms, Robin has also performed in the cabaret scene. She participated in master classes held by Karen Mason of Mamma Mia and the legendary Julie Wilson. She has appeared in several cabaret shows and co-produced "Mind, Body & Soul", "The 3 Latinas" and "The Shoop-Shoop Show."

Robin’s debut CD was released to critical acclaim. The CD, entitled Tonight, features some of the best young talent in the scene today: David Epstein on piano, Bob Sabin on bass and Peter Retzlaff on drums. Also playing is guitarist Pete Smith, featured on 2 of the 14 tracks.

Robin is co-founder of the Latin jazz band, Dos, which encompasses all styles of Latin music. She also works as a studio singer and voice over artist, lending her talents to This Week In Baseball on the Fox network, and numerous corporate and entertainment DVD’s. Currently on the faculty at The Singers Forum in New York City and the Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, she gives private voice lessons and teaches technique classes to children in their Youth Scholarship Programs.
