Ron Levine

Ron won a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental for the
Orange Blossom Special/Hoedown on the Urban Cowboy Soundtrack.
Ron was the fiddle player for Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band at the time.
He was touring with the band during filming of the movie Urban
Cowboy. Mickey Gilley and the Urban Cowboy Band split their time
between touring and performing at Gilley's club, in addition to
sessions at Gilley's Recording Studio. After touring with Mickey Gilley
for a few years, Ron moved to Colorado, skiing in the day and playing
through the nights. In Nashville, Ron toured and recorded with various
artists including Dottie West, Michael Martin Murphy, Lobo, Mickey
Gilley, Bertie Higgins, and Becky Hobbs, and played shows with Kenny
Rogers, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, B.J. Thomas, Roy Clark and
Conway Twitty. He performed on various television shows including
Nashville Now, Church Street Station and Grand Ole Opry Live. PBS
American Skyline also aired a special on Ron's career.

After touring with Dottie West for 3 years, Ron left the music business
and life on the road to raise a family. He never intended to stop
playing music. Multiple Sclerosis changed this plan. His first relapse
left him without sensation in his hands or feet. At this time he
couldn't hold a violin, let alone play it. Working through the challenge
of playing an instrument he could barely feel, Ron has regained his
ability to play the violin and enjoy his passion. Storm Dancer is the
most recent result. It is a combination of new recordings and tracks
recorded when he lived in Nashville. Keep on the watch for more of
Ron's unique fiddle style and fun instrumental arrangements!
