Rubbernekkerz

Rubbernekkerz is a genre-crossing musical darkwave hybrid characterized by melancholy chords, synths, electric and acoustic guitars. Influenced equally by prog-rock and electronic music, the 3rd release, "Rx: Prescription," brings some songs that have been cooking for 15 years, and one that was written in 1987! 2006 saw the release of the debut CD, 33 1/3rd, with themes of youth and aging; later followed songs dealing with the moon landing, and conspiracies. Now the dark humour brings introduces us to characters such as the ‘Antisocial Poster Child,’ and ‘Van Goth’ (who seems to ‘dislike the human race’).

Rubbernekkerz deliver an introspective and quirky range of alt-pop songs that create an emotional mood from a layering of sounds with both natural and synthetic textures. On "Rx," Harrington is also joined (on the song Wait a Minute) by vocalist Simon Caine, who enjoyed fame in the early 1970s.

The person behind the Rubbernekkerz madness is Toronto area musician Mark Harrington, who has been known to rarely be joined by an occasional extra voice, though more often than not it is merely a computer. Harrington has 3 of his 'own' (from his ALTER-ego) CDs on this site: Capricorn Flakes, Trash Icon, and Alter. Rubbernekkerz music was initially quite different in feel from most of Harrington's previous music, hence the new name. This may no longer be true, as "Rx" seems to re-unite the two stylistic halves of the musically bi-polar musician.
