Sam's Musical Ramblings Matt Douglass Reactors - Mid-Life Crisis Edition

Sam Nitzberg

After spending several years playing folk and bluegrass, traveling and busking in different parts of the States and Europe in the mid-70's, singer-songwriter Sam Nitzberg moved back to his hometown of Baltimore in 1978. He soon founded the Charm City Reactors, an electric and eclectic outfit which reflected his widening musical tastes. A staple in the Baltimore area for 5 years, the Reactors featured Sam's and other members' original songs as well as covers, encompassing new wave, reggae and other alternative styles. When the Reactors disbanded, Sam spent time as lead singer with the then-popular local cover band The Sway before leaving to form The Odds in order to provide another vehicle for his own songs. Since the Odds break-up in 1992, Sam's enjoyed a quiet musical life, periodically getting together with musically like-minded friends, until reuniting with the original Reactors line up in the mid 2000's.

Most recently Sam has teamed up with Matt Douglass, another former Reactor, playing a few gigs featuring their own material, as well as being part of tribute concerts to Bob Dylan (on the occasion of his 70th birthday) and Woody Guthrie (on the anniversary of his 100th). They released a four song EP, "Grayest Hits", in September 2012.
