Awareness Is Power

Sebastian Azul

Welcome to my biography :)

Sebastian Azul, is an exceptional awareness artist, songwriter and producer
whose mission is to spread mental and neurological awareness with music and information.

Having battled anxiety and depression his whole life,
Azul is not only an awareness artist, songwriter, producer but a mental health advocate as well as a survivor.

Channeling his haunted and traumatized experience with talents, to bring light to those who are lost in the darkness.

Born in Angola and raised in Great Britain.
Azul, studied music technology for 3 years before earning a vocational BTEC qualification.
Besides being a musician, he is also a certified level 3 community interpreter.

Azul, is a musician to the core, who is able to call on a wide array of influences and genres to create tracks that are both conscious and skillful.

Working under the title Awareness is Power, Azul has committed himself to raising the profile of those suffering from mental disorders. An ongoing paramount issue affecting many communities.

With each successive track he hopes to break down
the stigmas associated with mental health, particularly amongst men, as well as providing
comfort and solace for those who are suffering but too afraid to speak out.
His song ‘I Know A Place’ is a case in point. Having himself been lost and suicidal within a deep depression, Azul reached out to his siblings who then came to his rescue.

Written with this in mind, the lyrics consider the disconnect within modern society, where success is the only goal, while calling on the listener to “hang in the there, I’m on my way”.
Also letting the listeners know that it is very important to speak, reach out to someone for help, whether for moral support or physical support.

The powerful and informative track ''Mental Health Warriors'' shows Azul ability to convey a message with such an outstanding theatrical features and energy while keeping the listeners entertained.

'I'm the Girl' deals with issues of appearance, discrimination and peer pressure, showcasing
Azul’s ability to broadcast a message that is designed to both uplift and educate.

And while he mostly makes use of guest vocalists, for the track ‘I am The Boy (They Don’t Understand)’
Azul duets with his then 9 year-old son who suffers from the neurological disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome. Too be certain, there is not much out there that tackles these issues in such a brave and caring manner.
Whether informed by his own struggles or those of his family and community, Azul turns
these real life experiences into stories that motivate and inspire. Having already released
enough tracks to fill two albums, Azul’s style is one that balances awareness with mainstream sensibilities. Without being attached to a particular genre he allows his inspiration and experience to be the guide for the message.

As comfortable with hip hop, grime and R&B as he is
with dance and pop, Azul finds the right combination for the most effective connection.

By a long shot, Azul is not your typical musician, Sebastian Azul’s music is real, authentic and sensitive. Unafraid of the darkness, loneliness and confusion that can dominate our lives, he is dedicated to creating purposeful work that is full of love and meaning.
