Stephen Majewski

Stephen Majewski is a composer and arranger of music for solo piano. His songs have been described as beautiful but haunting, mesmerizing, glorious, graceful, relaxing, atmospheric, calming, magnificent, meditative, and beautifully reflective.

Stephen’s solo piano music has been played on Pandora more than 3.3 million times. His music also can be heard on Spotify, Enlightened Piano Radio, Piano Perfect, One World Music, Our Place Radio, Instrumental Saturdays, Shades of Classics, Alternating Currents, Planetary Prismatic Psonics, and other radio shows and stations.

Stephen’s latest album ROADS includes three original songs: “Morning Star,” “Wings of the Dawn,” and “Hope;” his piano arrangement of “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg; and his interpretations of three songs from the 1977 Rankin/Bass animated production of The Hobbit: “Roads,” “Misty Mountains Cold,” and “The Greatest Adventure.”

Maury Laws, the composer of The Hobbit soundtrack and other Rankin/Bass productions such as The Year Without a Santa Claus and Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, called ROADS “most enjoyable.” Another listener described the songs as “quite haunting and beautiful at the same time. Very enjoyable."

George Winston’s seminal albums Autumn, December, Winter into Spring, Summer, and Forest were Stephen’s initial inspiration for the piano. Playing the piano and composing began in earnest for him more than a decade ago when he heard “Snow on High Ground,” an instrumental piece by Nightnoise composed by Triona Ni Dhomhnaill. Primarily a solo piano composition, the song inspired Stephen to enroll at the New Jersey School of Music for a year before beginning to compose his own pieces while self-studying the piano.

The result was TAMARAC. Inspired by a beautiful area in New Jersey where he lives, the album is his musical interpretation of a typical summer day in Tamarac.

Stephen enjoys composing and listening to the music of solo piano artists and instrumental composers.
