String Theory

String Theory is the expanded string section of the Leap of Faith Orchestra along with the horns of PEK. Like most of the small format Evil Clown Ensembles, the personnel is pretty fluid from session to session. The focus is always on the sound of the orchestra string family played by top notch improvisation specialists... We mimic many of the kinds of sounds produced by the modern and post-modern classical composers who work with textures rather than melodic / harmonic relationships.

Always present are cellist Glynis Lomon and woodwind performer PEK, who started Leap of Faith in the early 90s. Despite the differences between woodwinds and cello, Lomon and PEK have created a mutual improvisation language which features imitation of each other's sonority as a primary element. The other string players augment this sound and together we create a compelling chamber improvisation experience.
