The Choral Scholars

The Choral Scholars, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, made its concert debut in 2005 at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Concert Series. Since then, they have performed in the St. Mark's Concert Series two more times, participated in the Barker Series at Central Reformed Church, collaborated with the Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Chorus, given several full concerts of their own around West Michigan, and sung as the featured guests at a variety of other events around the area. In the fall of 2008, they went on tour to the greater Chicago area, performing and working with local school ensembles.

The current ensemble grew out of a quartet of hired section leaders (called “choral scholars”) in the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church choir. All eight members of The Choral Scholars currently live and work in West Michigan. They are involved in several community ensembles, including the Calvin College Alumni Choir, the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, and several church and school ensembles. The group released its first full-length recording in November 2007, a Christmas album entitled "Gaudeamus".
