The Pearce Family Bluegrass Band

The Pearce Family was formed in 1986, when Doub and Traci were married. Shortly thereafter, band members Wil, Molly, and Cate were born and added to the lineup. They began officially touring together in 2004, and have played shows all over the United States, launching from the musical hotbed of Southern California.

After two CD’s (Not For Sale in 2004 and Guilty in 2006) and the addition of Wil’s wife, Janie, the family is working hard to complete their next release for the summer of 2012. Playing a blend of events including festivals, concerts, camps, and church functions, the band is experienced in a variety of contexts.

The band’s sound flows from the foundation of traditional bluegrass, but is fresh and unique as they are influenced by jazz, rock, classical, and other styles. Family ties run deep with the Pearce's, which is made apparent by their seamless teamwork onstage, and love and support of each other offstage. The hard work and unity has paid off as the group has won numerous contests for their vocal harmony, instrumentation, and band proficiency.

They give God the glory for their talents, and their love for Jesus flows from the stage, particularly during their uplifting Gospel tunes. The combination of a love for music, family, great personalities, and excellence in their craft, make The Pearce Family Bluegrass Band an unforgettable group of artists.

Doub, the father of the family, is an extremely talented musician, who currently works as an audio engineer in TV and film. He has performed and recorded as a bass player with scores of artists, including names such as Gary Puckett, Joan Rivers, Brush Arbor, and Johnny Cash. He has recently become very accomplished on the 5-string banjo, and ultimately is the center of the musical excellence in the family.

Traci, the mother of the family, has had a passion for music since she was a little girl. Her warm vocals, skill on the autoharp, and songwriting ability contribute to the character of their sound. She has a broad range of musical experience, and has led many bands in the Los Angeles area. She has been the heartbeat of what this band has been for the past seven years.

Wil, 23, is a refreshingly versatile musician. Wil graduated from The Master’s College with a Music Degree. He is currently involved in writing and producing several artists, and he plays in various southern California groups. He has played on many recording projects including The Master’s College Chapel Band, Dave Zimmer, Enfield, and some music libraries. With the Pearce Family, he plays Dobro, Mandolin, and Acoustic Guitar, and has also become involved in the group’s writing.

Janie, 22, is a new addition to the family as she and Wil were recently married. She has a wonderful voice and has lots of experience as she attended The Master’s College as a Vocal Performance Major. She was a part of their auditioned Chorale and their premier chapel band. She brings a lot to this family band with her unique voice and brilliant personality.

Molly, 21, is a great attribute to this band with her unique 5-string banjo playing and tender voice. She graduated from The Master’s College with a Music Degree and an emphasis in banjo. Molly’s banjo talents have become increasingly exceptional, as she has now won two large banjo competitions in Southern California. She has had the privilege of playing around the world, from the States to Israel, through her involvement with her family and other groups from college.

Cate, 19, just graduated from The Master’s College as a Music and Audio Technology major. She went to school on a scholarship for her guitar ability, and has thoroughly enjoyed the growth she experienced there. She contributes to the band through her beautiful voice and guitar playing, as well as her newly recognized talent of songwriting.
