Todd Fernandez

After taking more than a decade to focus his attention on his family, Todd Fernandez is ready to get back into the game with his November 2019 EP, 'Lover of a Third Kind.'

Back in his college days, right before the internet became the juggernaut it is today, Todd Fernandez spent several years in the band Shortbus. They reached a certain level of popularity and were able to play heavily at the time, but once Fernandez found himself married and with kids, music had to take a backseat as he switched his focus on making a living for his family. Fast forward to today and you’ll find Fernandez in the small town of Covington, Louisiana making music by the swamplands.

Influenced by the live show energy of AC/DC, the attitude of Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, and the soulful vocals of all the best Motown artists, Fernandez put his best foot forward with his 2019 release, 'Lover of a Third Kind.’

The EP features four original songs from the Louisiana rocker that include his ode to blue-collar family men in “Amen” as well as a song everyone can relate to, “Broken Hearts Community,” a song all about that need for connection. When one boils it down, Fernandez showcases a sense of desire when he writes. Never putting pen to paper to piece together words void of meaning.

“I write from strong convictions with an interest in action. Or in plain words, I only write when I am angry or passionate about something. Never will I go through the trouble of putting pen to paper for arbitrary reasons. Never do I write for the sake of writing”

With a myriad of influences that span from rock to the epitome of soul, Fernandez’s music holds a uniqueness to it that sets is apart from the rest. Not motivated by money or fame, Fernandez creates for the sake of putting his best self out into the world to influence his children in the long run. Showcasing to his kids that one never has to give up what they love; one never has to give up living.
