Tony Mecca

Tony Mecca writes and performs songs about people and personalities. Real people that is, and genuine life experiences like love and longing, growing-up, working and watching life play itself out. But tedious and plodding reflection is not his forte, and rock ‘n’ roll sensibilities are injected at every opportunity to keep the proceedings vibrant, passionate and really fun. His music has been called Pop Rock, Singer-Songwriter Rock and Adult Rock to name a few. He calls it “Urban American Heavy MeNtal” or “Adventurous Singer/Songwriter Rock”. In reviews his songs and sound has been compared to Springsteen, Petty, Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Smash Mouth, Leonard Cohen and Ray Davies. In a poll conducted on his web site his fans were ask to describe Tony and his sound. Among the many one-liners, “The bastard son of Huey Lewis and Joni Mitchell” and “The Who fronted by John Prine” were voted the favorites.

Most recently, Mecca has turned his attention to a couple of historic rock hits with his adventurous readings of The Doors "Riders on the Storm" (single release 5/2012), and The Beatles classic "Eleanor Rigby" (single release 10/2012.
