Ursula Ellis

Singer-songwriter Ursula Ellis has lived her entire life as an Army brat, knowing all too well the highs and lows of the military life. Ursula is also a filmmaker and wrote and directed the film "War Is Kind," which depicts an Army teen dealing with the struggles of her dad's deployment, while a film student at Northwestern University. Born in Germany, Ursula attended 10 different schools and lived in 9 states. Her mother, an Army spouse throughout her husband's entire career, penned lyrics about their long journey and poses the question- When all's said and done, with no map for this road, would you do it all again? After receiving the lyrics from her mom during a Christmas break, Ursula sat down and composed the music and recorded it within a couple of hours.

Upon on moving to NYC to attend graduate film school at Columbia Ursula made a professional recording of When All's Said and Done with John Brechner of Visager. Ursula's films are available on Vimeo. Ursula is currently a second year grad student in MFA in Directing/Writing at Columbia University in NYC. She is a Radio/Television/Film graduate with a European History minor from Northwestern University. She wrote and directed several grant-recipient films during her time at Northwestern, most notably her senior directing project and the 2011-2012 Northwestern Women Filmmaker's Alliance grant, War is Kind, and the 2012 Niteskool music video, in addition to serving as a crewhead on dozens of student films.
