A couple of years ago I came up with the music and a title for "You Know It"and fiddled around with lyrics, but couldn't come up with anything I liked. I had met Goldmine Magazine contributor, music reviewer, and author, John Borack through the Petsche Music Group, and we struck up a friendship that led to John messaging me that if I ever was in need of lyrics, that he'd be interested in helping out. So I sat down and videoed myself on guitar humming the melody and sent it to John in Southern California, and a long distance songwriting partnership begun.
Once I received his wonderful lyrics, Victor Erwin, president of the Petsche Music Group, sent a scratch demo with guitar and vocals on it to both Pat Buchanan (Electric & Bass guitars) as well as Scott Trammell (Drums) with my message, "Think Mike Campbell on guitar"(Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), and they nailed it! Then my talented friend, Pat Flynn, whom I've known since high school, heard about Pat and Scott's involvement, offered to play acoustic guitar on the track, and nicely brought together a part of the song that was dragging, moved it along nicely.
When time came to record lead and harmony vocals, Pop legend Lannie Flowers sang some high harmonies, as well as accepting producing and mixing credits for the song. The tracks were then off to the pros at Nashville One for mastering, and they did a great job.
From there the determination was made to release the song independently as a digital download in order to gauge the marketability of future physical sales. Several internet and terrestrial radio stations have picked up the song and have delivered it in rotations from L.A. to N.Y.!
I'm more proud of "You Know It" than any other of my original songs that I've written in my 50+ years of songwriting/recording, and I hope you will sample this here on CD Baby, or Amazon, or Apple iTunes, or any of the numerous streaming and listening platforms it's currently available on. Here's hoping you enjoy it enough to splurge .99 cents and please, take a moment to leave a review of the song everywhere you can, I need all the help I can get
