Xs Band

XS BAND is a Tejano Music/ Mexican Regional show band that is known for their cumbia, and ranchera Latin sound. XS (Excess) can be described as a condition of going beyond what is necessary, usual or proper to achieve something. The band’s mantra, a page taken from the Beatles of the sixties, was built from per- forming together as a band for over 10,000 hours before recording their first album. The band’s front man, Benny “the principal” Rodriguez, would like it known that there was no magic pill, no easy way, just staying hungry and humble along the way to reaching 10,000 hours performing as a band. Levi Collins formal- ly from the Platters sang a song with the band at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, AZ and stated, “The XS Band’s music was real tight and their showmanship and stage presence was superior.” Bobby Lopez of the nationally syndicated Tejano Music Awards Radio Show stated, “ XS has that tinge of the “San Anto” sound and it is really good and hope that everyone gets to see their live show.” Leo Hernandez from La Prensa Hispana Newspaper based out of Arizona stated, “En lo artistico y lo musical tuvieron una destacada participacion y nadie pudo resitir a sus ritmos alegres.”
The XS Band released their third album “Celebrando La Vida” at the 2013 Tejano Music National Convention held on August 2-3 at the Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The group excited the crowd with their stage presence and performed their hits in conjunction with the Shelly Lares Expo. David Martinez from Tejano Sound Promoting, New Braunfels, Texas, stated, “ XS is on the top as an up and coming Tejano Music band.” Bnet Radio’s very own Sandra "Catfish" Munoz stat- ed, "A must see band, very talented musicians with great personalities!” The BMI published Quintet are breaking barriers in their musical career as they finished being on the ballot for the 2012 Latin Grammys for their second album and are now shooting to top that with their third project. The band is currently receiving airplay and positive reviews from Tejano/Mexican Regional Radio nationally. Raul Lozada from Radio Bilingue wrote, “ Celebrando La Vida is amazing! Back to back hits! All I can say is Wow!” Gloria and Eddie Tapia from Tapias Tejano Pics stated, “XS has what it takes to go places with their music.” The bands recent success and notoriety earned them a partnership with the Bella Pearl Talent Agency in Los An- geles , California.
The Arizona quintet formed in 2008, when guitarist/ vocalist, Benny “The Principal” Rodriguez, joined forces with first cousin, Bob “Mr. Las Vegas” Islas to become published with BMI and later signed with the Arizona based company ZonaMex Digital Records in 2009. The dynamic duo recruited the female accordion sensation, vocalist, and sister, Christina “Reina de Accordion” Islas, skilled bassist, Orlando “Skywalker” Rodriguez, and energetic session skinsman, LJ “Mayhem” Rodriguez to join the group. The group is all family based. Front man, Benny “The Principal” Ro- driguez was nominated for a Tejano Music Award in 2010 which established the band as an up and coming “Tejano /Mexican Regional Musical Act.”
Thanks to five years of relentless touring and online word of mouth, the band has become a huge underground success and earned XS a dedicated fan base from all over the globe. The XS Band is
scheduled to take their live performance on the road for the 2013-2014 year. The band’s CDs , and merchandise are available for purchase on iTunes, Napster and the band’s website, www.xsbandlatin.com.
