Zain Bhikha

A brief look at Zain Bhikha

Zain Bhikha is one of the most successful Islamic singers today and has inspired fans the world over with his messages of hope and upliftment for over twenty years. As a singer, songwriter and through creative workshops and television, Zain serves as an ambassador for promoting positivity about his faith whilst simultaneously delivering messages of unity amongst nations and global peace through his various projects.

From the time that Zain recorded his first album in 1994, his experience as an artist has grown tremendously, increasing his exposure in his country of birth, South Africa, as well as globally. Zain remains a pioneer in the ‘Nasheed’ or Islamic genre of music, where, as one of the first English Islamic singers, he opened the door for many other artists. His albums have been launched in many countries including the United Kingdom, North America, Malaysia, France, Turkey, Holland, India, The Middle East, and Australia; and he has performed live in cities worldwide.

Over and above his individual endeavours, Zain has also collaborated with a long list of artists such as Dawud Wharnsby, Native Deen, Outlandish, Sami Yusuf, Raihaan, Khalid Belhrouzhi, Ahmed Bukhatir, Imad Rami, Ziryab, Khalil Ismail and his mentor, Yusuf Islam. His songs are mainly self-written, driven by emotion and the need to reassure people that turning and submitting to the Almighty is the hope mankind requires for holistic fulfillment. Many of his songs represent different times in his life and the lessons he has learnt through personal experience.

Zain’s songs provide young and old with an alternative to mainstream music, carrying messages of faith and remembrance of God. Since 1994 he has released seven albums, all of which have made him a much-loved household name amongst Muslims worldwide.

Zain serves as an ambassador for global peace and Unity and has been honoured as one of the Top 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world every year since 2009. A great achievement, it serves to illustrate the fervour with which he approaches his projects and his dedication to faith and humanity. His music continues to promote spiritual contemplation, encouraging people, and children of all ages, to be proud of their beliefs and to work towards a better world. Zain is known to be the voice of local concerns with universal value, and sees his music transcending all boundaries and barriers. He represented South Africa at a Peace conference held in Sydney last year, and was also invited by the Royal Family of Dubai as part of a contingent of Islamic academics and artists working for peace
Zain Bhikha Studios was formed in 2005 and not only does he produce music but he has also been presenting workshops and speeches. He has created and led classes and presentations for groups of all ages, races and religions.
