As soon as I could walk I was dancing to the sounds of Dave Brubeck and Aron Copland. Privately trained on piano at the age of 5 and at the age of 18 studying percussion in India prepared me for my experience performing and studying with musicians from Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Bulgaria and Africa .
Later studying with Joel Dibartalo, ( Professor who played bass on the Johnny Carson show for many years), and studying jazz theory and composition at various universities enhanced my writing skills to the point where I play many instruments myself in studio or live. Aside from the many varieties of hand percussion from the above mentioned cultures, and an awesome drumset with all kinds of metal objects added to my array of cymbals, I also play flute, sax, fretless bass, steel drum, accordion, trumpet, sliding trumpet, sitar, bansuri flute, a little guitar and try to keep my vocal chords going.
I presently have 11 albums, all very different, and have done all the art work for the covers in paintings, silkscreens, lithography, and hand made prints. Each album is thematic as much of my art is inspired by various themes, musical or otherwise. My music is usually based in traditional or spicy percussion, layered with unique chord progressions, supported with a sliding fretless bass, topped with many voices of different instruments, wind or otherwise. The combinations and possibilities are the "Infinite Idiom". A journey through sound.
