Dave Halverson

Dave Halverson is a guitarist/composer based in Santa Barbara, CA. He is also a founding member of the jazz/art rock band Trance Lucid. To date, he has released twelve albums of instrumental music -- five as a solo artist, five with Trance Lucid, and two with Sea Rocket Jasmine.

The music ranges from electronic rock, jazz/progressive rock, and avant rock, to textural mood pieces, solo pieces, and more experimental works. The tone is often contemplative, with undertones of tension and darkness. Inspirations include random noises, found sound, visual art, science, technology, and shortwave radio experiments.

Halverson’s first solo project was Fragments of What (2003), a cinematic recording that explored new sonic territory and completely reshaped his musical perspective. His 2006 album, March Forth, was created as a tribute to his father, who was born on March 4th. Apothecary Charms followed in 2008. 1991, a collection of songs recorded in 1991, was released in 2009. After several years focused on other projects, he has returned to his solo efforts with Shapelifter, released in June 2019.
