Diane Hoffman

Diane Hoffman is a multi-faceted talent: a jazzy hard swinging singer and an accomplished painter. She was raised in Cambridge, Ma. She earned a BFA from the California College of Art and later studied independently with the famed painter Jacques Fabert in Erongaricuaro, Mexico. Her works have been exhibited extensively in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
After returning to the East Coast and settling in New York City, Hoffman became involved with the artist-run gallery movement in the NYC's Soho area. She continued to sing and joined a choral society where she performed classical liturgical pieces prior to studying with notables such as Anita Darian and Barbara Maier Gustern. Through her relationship with Darian, Diane received three unrecorded compositions which are on this latest album, Do I Love You. Hoffman continues to ignite audiences with her emotionally charged singing. She is dynamic, jazzy and hard swinging. She is blessed with a rich textured voice, keen rhythm, original phrasing and a natural feel for jazz and blues, all laced with a quirky sense of humor. Her often unique repertoire flows from her painter's passion for narrative, tone, and balance. Diane's singing is informed by her belief that "expressing the meaning of the lyric is essential. As in acting, you have to reveal yourself and that takes courage."
