"Greg Dale is a singing, songwriting, guitar- playing veteran of San Francisco Bay Area's fertile rock music scene. On his new full- length album Winter's Ghost, he weaves a dreamy musical web of heart-felt tales from the modern American struggle amidst surreal times. The new Higher Font Records release will be available June 9, 2017 on vinyl LPs, CD and digital formats. "

Here is my thoughts on the making of Winter's Ghost

As I get more independent as an artist and more involved in the recording aspects in search of the sounds I'm hearing in my head ,the more it becomes glaringly apparent how much this whole thing relies on the talent and genius of the other people involved. First of all the band on this album is from San Fransisco and are called Deep Space, ( J.C O'Donnell guitar, Pete Schmitt on upright bass and the mighty " O " on drums ) a Jazz Trio but oh so much more. I brought these tunes in and these guys made them sing. Not one note of their playing was taken off the recording .... OK ....maybe a few notes but everything they did had balls and or beauty when needed .

We recorded the basic tracks in one session and the strings came back the next day and did some overdubbing at New, Improved Recording with the amazing John Finkbeiner in Oakland Ca, . Then I took it home to the Hermit Haus and tinkered with it for a few months. The Hermit Haus is essentially my kitchen on the train tracks in Berkeley. it's a tricky process sometimes but it's cheap cheap cheap.

With my record in hand I took it to Concord Ca, to Bill Bentley productions who put his magic on it. Though we all ended up doing a little producing in the end the majority was Bill who had tons or great ideas which really brings the record into focus. Then one of my favorite singers Angelina Bentley added vocal on 3 or 4 tunes. We used to have a short lived act back in the 80's called Rosebud and Scotch Breath.

Finally the mastering was done by Myles Boisen super genius at Headless Buddha Mastering Lab

The artists ... thank you Tanya Rist who lent her considerable talent and time with a great set of new photos of my ugly ass. One of my oldest friends and a true brother Craig at Aidan Wachter Talismanic Jeweler for the epic album cover and on going advise and friendship. Tied all together by Amy at Alice - Louise Press who just made it all come together better than I ever could have dreamed.

Thank you again to everyone and involved and to you the reader , hopefully you will put your ears on this.
