ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
BJ Leiderman is the award-winning composer of some of the best known theme music on Public Radio. For almost four decades, Leiderman’s melodies have graced programs including Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, Marketplace, Science Friday, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! and the "Stump The Chumps" theme in Car Talk.

His debut album, BJ, is both serious and silly, ranging from poetic love ballads to bombastic rock songs to political anthems– all with a distinctly Beatlesque groove.

Backed by the Athens, GA-based Randall Bramblett Band, produced by Eric Sarafin a.k.a. Mixerman and featuring the incomparable Bela Fleck on banjo, BJ is the culmination of three decades of writing and production.

The 15 tracks on this album range from hilarious and quirky to downright serious, and include thoughtful ballads as well as kick-it-up rockers. Influenced by the Beatles, Billy Joel, Paul Westerberg, and XTC, among others, you can hear the influence throughout and there is literally something for everyone.
