Album Notes
"Urban Soul (CD/DVD)" is a first of its kind in Soul Music and the first of its kind in a long time in music as a whole. This is a movie musical (DVD) based on the music from Steve Wallace's album Urban Soul (CD) sold together as a complete project. The music is a backdrop of urban life from a soulful perspective and the movie is a visual expression of the same. It begins with Steve Wallace coming home from tour to see that his neighborhood that he once lived in is changing by gentrification which then leads to talk about the youth, the community and Hip Hop culture. This is all happens while Steve and his friend Derral go through the ups and downs of being black men living in the big city. This wonderfully drafted story ties in 9 of the songs from the album in the style of a modern musical, ushering the audience through experiences of of good times, relationship drama and spiritual insight, leaving everyone with the feeling that they've definitely been on a thoughtful excursion beyond compare.
