Bob Arthurs is a jazz trumpet player, vocalist, band leader, and recording artist who has been appearing in clubs and at festivals in the New York area and abroad for almost five decades. New York venues include Birdland, Iridium, Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cleopatra's Needle, Somethin' Jazz Club, Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall, and the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, Lincoln Center Plaza among others. In addition to leading his own groups, Bob has played with Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Sal Mosca, Ted Brown, Warren Vache, Larry Coryell, Bucky Pizzarelli, Chuck Wayne, Tal Farlowe, Etta Jones, Bill Crow, and Carmen Leggio, with whom he co-directed a big band, among many others.

He is a founding member of the Tristan Quartet, which can be heard on Bob's CD on Zinnia Records, Notes From the Underground, which is available from CDbaby.

Bob has been a trumpet and jazz improvisation teacher throughout his career. He was on the faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester In White Plains, NY for over three decades. From 1990 to 2005 he served as the school's Dean of Students and Faculty and Chair of the Conservatory's Jazz Department. He also served as the trumpet instructor at Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY from 2007 to 2016.

In August 2017 he was invited to perform and speak at the Music In the Alps music festival in Bad Gastein, Austria. He is invited back this August 2018 to perform and to head the festival's jazz division. musicinthealps.com
