Liz Mandeville

Chicago based entertainer, Liz Mandeville, may be petite, but don't let the package fool you. This little woman they call Red Top is a dynamo! She opens her mouth and blows the lid off the place. Then she picks up a guitar and plays a song that hurts you so good, all the while she's shaking her hips and making you laugh.
Liz is an excellent singer with an amazing, pitch perfect, supple voice and the gift of fabulous range. She can purr like Eartha Kitt or belt like Etta James, cut to the point like Tina Turner or take you to church like Aretha! But whether singing gut bucket blues, R&B or smooth jazz, Mandeville's voice is all her own, immediately recognizable and always pleasing.
Liz is also an accomplished guitarist, she plays both electric and acoustic, solo or with her band. Liz's guitar chops come from deep in the Delta to mix Texas Swing with some vintage Chicago blues to flavor the mix. One reviewer compared Liz's playing on her 2012 release, Clarksdale, to Nashville guitar hero Chet Atkins.
Liz is an award winning songwriter. She has won the ISC and the USA songwriting contests. Taking inspiration from all around her, Liz writes the witty, emotional, roots and blues music available here at CDBaby. One reviewer called her work "an intimate snapshot of the human condition."
Liz is a veteran of the road and a pro in the studio. Her recording debut in 1996 came with 2 tracks on Aron Burton Live From Buddy Guy's. Her first solo effort came later that same year, Look At Me, a studio recording with the same band . In 1998, she recorded 2 tracks for Blue Chicago Record's "The Red Hot Mama's." 2000 saw the release of the 2nd of 4 CD's of her own original blues, R&B and roots music made during the 15 years she was signed to Earwig Music Company before starting her own label, Blue Kitty Music in 2012. In May, Blue Kitty Music released it's debut CD, the critically acclaimed Clarksdale, which is still getting regular airplay around the world.
Liz has toured extensively in the US, Canada, Europe, and even South Africa where she was so well received at the Durban International Blues fest they invited her back to headline a second year. She's played hundreds of gigs; festivals, night clubs, theaters, biker bars, yacht clubs, house parties, weddings, country clubs and dives.
Liz Mandeville, a regular on the competitive Chicago blues scene for over 20 years, has shared the stage with many blues stars, from Jimmy McCracklin in San Francisco to Robert Cray in Germany, Albert King in Belgium to Jr Walker, Koko Taylor and Lonnie Brooks in Chicago.
She also worked with many of the most respected sidemen in the world of blues, the men who made Muddy, Albert King and Albert Collins sound so good. Liz is always searching out the best talent in the business to work with, her shows are constantly evolving to keep the music fresh.
No matter the circumstance, Liz is always completely entertaining, her live show musically versatile and peppered with good humor. She also plays washboard, porch-board bass, shakes her hips and makes you feel so good you wanna boogie till the break of day!
