Ricko Ak

Alabama-born, now Atlanta-native rap artist Ricko AK (aka Alabama King) was born to do music. At a young age, he developed a knack for writing poetry and lyrics. At 19, he got his first taste of the music industry, and dropped his first album entitled, Trademark (via PowerSource Entertainment, 2007) shortly after. Since then, Ricko AK has released and been featured on numerous albums, mixtapes, and even has tv (BET's hit sitcom, The Game) and movie credits to his name. His song "At the Court" featuring Kalako da Pro was recently featured on ESPN's PUSH Documentary Film about an urban basketball team in Boston, Massachusetts. Not one to shy away from the crowd, AK has been known to put on stellar performances that leave fans in awe, even being compared to some of hip-hop's biggest stars.

Known for his fast, melodic cadence, and pushing an anti-pen campaign known as"No Pens Allowed", the artist says this about his writing-process, "When I hear a beat I like, I start seeing pictures of what the beat is trying to tell me. From there, it just sorta writes itself all within the compounds of my head. I can literally be anywhere and come up with a hook or bars. It's the best feeling in the world!" Upon a review of AK's music, one will notice two things immediately... one, his voice is very distinctive and bleeds into the beat almost effortlessly, and two, every song has it's own signature feel to it. To describe it best would be to say that Ricko AK takes his listeners into a world where talent, inner-strength and motivation comes out of very-humble beginnings. "The will to wake up everyday and make something out of nothing is what pushes me," says AK.

Today, Ricko AK is back again with his latest body of work and 12th studio project album properly entitled, Borderline Legend (via Lavish Lyfe Music Group). The first single, Bo$$ Like Me shows AK spitting rapidly about nite-capping with a woman after meeting at a bar earlier over The Beat Plug's melodic, bass-heavy beat. "Bottle service the whole night, we gon' lay up the whole day, got your body running like OJ" AK raps. This track is sure to have fans in a frenzy, and coming back wanting more from the Alabama-spitter.
