Anthony Bannach

Anthony (Tony) Bannach iis a composer and musician born in Milwaukee, WI on Sept. 10, 1991. He grew up in the small town of Lomira, WI, where he was raised in a household and community that valued music. he was involved in the area school's band (concert, jazz, and marching) system from middle school to high school, while at the same time playing with friends in rock groups or experimental projects. From there he went to the University of Minnesota-Morris and graduated with as a Music and German Studies B.A. in 2014. He has also studied composition in Vienna with renowned composer Gabriel Proy. In the spring of 2011 he received a commission for the University of Minnesota-Morris' Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, in which he presented a lecture and short compositional examples for his Studies of Electronic Instrumentation within a Standard Orchestral Score. This led to his introduction to and collaboration with Peter Hurd, whose film The Control Group, starring Brad Dourif ( of One flew over Cuckoo's Nest, Child's Play (series), and The Lord of The Rings fame), Anthony created the score for. Anthony is currently on the composing team for the upcoming adventure/horror video game Forest Heart, and continues working on various commissions and projects, and also also enjoys traveling and teaching English abroad.

In terms of compositional influences he has a very eclectic taste: From Brahms and Beethoven to Zappa and Zorn, he feels that various styles have unique ways of communicating musical feeling to the listener, and tries to utilize anything at his disposal to create music he feels is worth making. In terms of philosophy for composing for multimedia, he believes the approach should be 50/50, that is, trying to add and amplify to the vision and style of the director/creator, while also remaining as true as possible to the musical beliefs of the composer. Anthony has just released his first album "Emotionale Landschaften" a CD of eclectic and experimental tracks that were conceived as sonic paintings with voice, synths, and saxophone.
