Black Light

Black Light is psychedelic lo-fi velvety indie art rock created in relaxed home studios. The catalogue comprises many full length albums, the first with a band and sixteen tracks, the others with four and eight track analog recorders, and more recently with the mac. The instrumentation is implemented with voice, guitars, drums, keyboards, percussion, found sounds and samples.

The melodic rhythms are contrasted by edgy lead sounds accompanied by dry walkie-talkie vocals. Contrasting instrumental arrangements vary from spaghetti western themes to experimental noise collages. The unique stream of conscious style of recording and layering, mostly by one musician, invites the beauty and color of spontaneity in an impressionistic form of music and lyrics.

Black Light comes from Colorado and Texas with inspirations spanning many generations from Dave Brubeck through Autolux. The first recordings recall the Pixies and Replacements, while the current releases reflect sounds from the Velvet Underground to American Analog Set, with a dash of the southern accents of Texas.
