Chelsey Danielle

Percussionist, Singer Songwriter, Performer, and Educator. Chelsey Danielle is a versatile musician that performs as a one woman percussion band, drummer/singer in different music projects, and music educator to all ages. She has been featured with many musicians as well as a solo artist at multiple music festivals such as National Women's Music Festival, Oaktopia, Denton 35, Deep Ellum Art Festival, Amazon Music Festival, and Sister Singers Festival. The release of Chelsey Danielle's first studio album "Red Mixtape" displays her unique style and versatility as a instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Chelsey Danielle found her passion for percussion in the middle school band at age 11. In middle school she won multiple awards for being an outstanding percussionist as well as making honor bands and orchestras. By the time she was in high school she was in an award winning drumline, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, and Texas All State Band. When she graduated high school she immediately studied Music Education at Texas Christian University. There she was a member of the TCU Drumline, Steel Band, Wind Symphony, and Percussion Ensemble. After a year at TCU she transferred to Richland College to continue her studies in percussion. Chelsey was featured as a percussion soloist in multiple contests and fund raising benefits for the school. After two years of attending the percussion program at Richland College, she finished her studies at the University of North Texas. During her time at UNT she was involved with the UNT Drumline, 2 o'clock Steel Band, Percussion Players, Symphonic Band, and Gamelan Ensemble. In December of 2013 she graduated UNT with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and returned to conduct her arrangement of Frank Zappa's "Peaches En Regalia" with the UNT Percussion Players in 2014.

While studying at UNT Chelsey Danielle experimented with a loop pedal, percussion instruments, and vocals. Soon she wrote enough material to play small shows around the DFW metroplex. Her solo act got a lot of attention especially from bassist and songwriter Luis Munoz. In 2013 they formed the band "Vega Star." Vega Star featured Chelsey on drumset/vocals, Luis on bass, guitar, and vocals, and later Brian King on keyboard/vocals. After a year Vega Star disbanded. Chelsey soon joined singer songwriter Lydia Low. At first Chelsey only played hand percussion or drumset on Lydia's tunes, but later both songwriters collaborated with two more female songwriters to create "The Velvet Army." Currently, The Velvet Army released an ep that features each member's song and style. The unique group has been featured at Oaktopia and the Amazon Music Festival. The Velvet Army is currently booking performances at major music festivals and events. Chelsey Danielle also plays drumset for Dallas musician Poppy Xander. This has led Chelsey to be featured with Poppy at the Deep Ellum Art Festival and Steampunk November Festival. Outside of playing with The Velvet Army, Poppy Xander, and her own solo project, Chelsey Danielle is hired by various musicians across the country to play at big music festivals or for studio work.

If Chelsey Danielle is not performing she is teaching. In 2008, she started teaching classical and marching percussion at Pantego Christian Academy. In 2012, her responsibilities grew at Pantego as an arranger for the marching percussion music, assistant director of the marching band, and director of a successful percussion studio. The Pantego Drumline has won second place at the State Marching Contest in 2013 and 2014, their marching band has won third place at the State Marching Contest 2013 and 2014, the Percussion Studio has members in honor bands each year, and percussionists have been awarded music scholarships for college. In 2012, Chelsey started teaching piano and percussion privately to ages 2 years and older. Most of her students have developed a passion for music and have found their own success. Currently, she is still teaching at Pantego Christian Academy and privately.

Chelsey Danielle lives a musically enriched life. She enjoys sharing music as a performer and educator. She has recently released her first studio album "Red Mixtape" which is gaining positive attention. She also has created her own music web series on YouTube "LivingRoomDreams" that feature her and local artists. Also both her percussion and piano studios continue to grow.
