Chris Anderson

In 2003, songwriter E. Christine Anderson (Chris) won a GRAMMY IN THE STREETS contest (sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and BMI ) for her song “Their Leader” from "WAiT - it's a musical.” In addition to penning originals about religion, love and the human condition, Chris’ protest songs articulate what many are thinking – she has tackled oil spills, dysfunctional political leaders, gun control and propaganda, usually with poignancy or humor.

Chris plays guitar, harmonica and is the lead singer & songwriter for the "Harried Americans Band." She is affiliated with BMI and Sound Exchange and is founding member and the producer of the Harried Americans Roadshow, an Americana, Contemporary Folk & Roots variety show with original smarty-pants social reform songs, poetry and comedy. The Harried Americans performance of Chris’ original “Just Change The Boundary (The Gerrymander Song),” is featured in a new PBS documentary, “GerryRIGGED, Turning Democracy on Its Head,” produced by The Community Idea Stations and OneVirginia2021. The show has aired on public broadcasting stations throughout Virginia.

Her graduate-level coursework includes theological studies at Wesley Theological Seminary, play and script writing classes at American University, coursework at the Commercial Theater Institute (a project of Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and the Broadway League) and completion of a graduate certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship from George Mason University. Chris played guitar in church bands in the Washington D.C. area for over a decade. She has been a consultant to start-up church bands of various denominations, a player/singer in several D.C. area Americana bands and enjoys speaking at workshops.
