Chris Pasin

Trumpeter Chris Pasin’s career goes from his study at New England Conservatory, to touring with a variety of artists, to the upper Hudson Valley music and recording scene, where he currently resides.

He's performed at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, the Royal Albert Hall, the Village Vanguard, Ronnie Scott's, and the Blue Note, among others.

As a student, his influences, and performances were with the likes of Gunther Schuller, Jaki Byard, George Russell, Jimmy Giuffre, Ran Blake, and Miroslav Vitous, among others. This included performances at the Village Vanguard with the George Russell New York band.

Several years after this were spent riding the Buddy Rich bus touring the US, and the world, as the jazz trumpet soloist. Performances with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, and Ray Charles also took place during this period.
After years on the road, a decade in New York City included five years playing with the Toshiko Akiyoshi / Lew Tabackin band, Brother Jack McDuff, several major salsa bands, and a host of New York – based musicians.
This culminated in Chris’s first CD “Detour Ahead” with Steve Slagle, Benny Green, Rufus Reid, and Dannie Richmond in 1987.

Now, decades later Chris continues to write music and generate a range of musical projects, from his last CD “Random Acts of Kindness,” on Planet Arts records, consisting entirely of his original compositions, to the recent band “Ornettiquette,” featuring music of and inspired by Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry. He’s been a member of Lee Shaw’s quintet, the popular Reelin’ in the Years show, curated a popular weekly jazz series, and in-demand studio trumpet player, and played regularly with a host of artists encompassing a range of genres.

Recently released is “Baby it’s Cold Outside,” a holiday album featuring Armen Donelian, Ira Coleman, Rich Syracuse, Jeff Siegel, and Patricia Dalton Fennell, on Planet Arts.
