Christopher Mark Jones

Christopher Mark Jones speaks five languages and has been a professional basketball player and French professor.. His early musical itinerary included busking in Paris, the English folk club circuit, tours of Denmark and Holland, UK and European folk festivals, and radio appearances in London, followed by Boston-area clubs during an electric period. These days he enjoys playing festivals, clubs, small concert series and house concerts in format ranging from solo to full band.

His 1978 album No More Range to Roam, recorded with the legendary folk producer Bill Leader on the Transatlantic label, was released in five countries and distributed in the U.S. by Rounder. After forays into rock, jazz and swing, and time off to raise two sons, 2010’s Heartland Variations marked a return to the soulful country and blues-inflected Americana narratives of the first recording. The dozen songs of Suburban 2-Step were released in April of 2012 and found favor with folk DJs both nationally and internationally. His 2014 release—Atlantica—expands the Americana genre to include songs inspired by Mexico and Quebec to go along with more urban topics. Album five is 2017's Incantations, with 13 new tracks ranging from contemplative folk to deep groove roots feels.
