Dan Stevens

Dan's fourth CD with Gatorbone Records released in May, 2017, (Runnin' the Backroads), including Blair Mountain, the story of coal mines and mining companies, written directly from his heart and sadly relevant to the times. It also includes "Hey Uncle Sam (It's Just my Opinion) (A tale of Faux news) and "Another Sad Country Tale” (arguably the world’s best unknown pick-up truck song).

Some of the tunes from the new cd are already getting airplay and charting on Jango radio's charts !

His third CD, released in 2016, Angels in the Sand, is an eclectic blend of music which reflects many of his musical influences, from steel drums to the music of the ’60’s. The title track is a tiki bar visit so real you can feel the sand between your toes.

A few tunes from Dan’s first two cds, (My Life of Adventure and Rearview Mirrors) continue to get some attention, particularly "Field Sobriety Line Dance" and “Priorities." They both still get international airplay, along with "Turner's Creek" and "American Dream." He’s hosted a 10 week series of some of Florida's best songwriters in 2012, at the Ale and the Witch in St. Pete, performed at a festival or thirty, and is always busily working on some new tunes.

Dan won an honorable mention in the annual Billboard Song contest a few years back (Requiem for the Survivors from his third CD) and got some excellent accolades for Rearview Mirrors, released in 2010, as well as placing in the finals for several regional songwriting contests in the past couple years.

Dan began his musical career in the 60's with his first band, The Rats. He grew up in Massachusetts, where, due to issues with curfews, bedtimes and a lack of transportation, he put his career on hold until the early 70’s, after high school. After a year, he left Beloit College (Wisconsin) and traveled to Guam, where he joined Bamboo, a horn band which played island nightclubs and concerts.

Over the years, he's been one of the founding members of a number of rock n' roll/blues bands: Apathy, Cottonmouth, Windfall Prophet, Groove Moon and others. He's played across the New England states, in Texas and Colorado (Boulder,Telluride, and Colorado Springs), and, of course, all over Florida.

His cds have all been produced by Lis and Lon Williamson, of Gatorbone Records and Studio, who also work with bands like Flagship Romance, Chelsea Saddler, Grant Peeples and many others. Pete Winters, of Winterstone in Tallahassee, mastered all four cds.

Dan is almost retired from "the road," though he's still happy to play here and there. Just ask.
