Dave Sonner

Dave Sonner is a singer songwriter and musician from Lakewood Colorado. He spent six years working on his latest album titled "The American Campus”. In the last year and a half of production, he developed a five-piece band that has since taken the name The American Campus. The record was recorded at Summit Road Recording Studios in Parker, Colorado and was released on April 21, 2011.

The American Campus Project is a modern blend of southern rock, country and gospel. “We were really going for the typical formula of modern pop song writing, lots of catchy hooks and easy singing lyrics” said front man Dave Sonner, in his post show interview at Summit Road in late February. Jacob Seal from Shreveport, Louisiana is featured on almost every track with smooth guitar licks, rich tones, and guitar solos that will make your hair stand on end. There is a collage of drummers on this album featuring, Allen Lemke from Richie Furay's band, former Nashville studio session drummer Colby Pitts, former drummer of local metal band DDC Tyler Wielgosz, and Dave Sonner, The bass tracks feature up and coming bassist Reese Martin from Cheney Washington, local front man Jared Phifer from Denvers own All at Risk, and Dave Sonner. The band has since taken on drummer Cory McConnell from Arlington, Texas, and guitarist Mathew Vermillion from Eastland, Texas. These songs are tracks you will want to listen to over and over again.

Since the release of the album, the boys from The American Campus have had the privilege of hearing their own songs on three local radio stations in Denver, AM 670 KLTT, FM 103.5 the FOX and FM 97.3 KBCO. Less than a month after their sold out CD release show at the Walnut Room in Denver, The American Campus won the 103.5 the FOX “Best Garage Band in Denver” contest by a 43% vote among five band competing. This opened the door for them to do a live recording session on air with Lewis and Floorwax from the 103.5 the FOX Morning Show. They then had the privilege of taking the stage opening for Lewis and Floorwaxs’ band the Groovehawgs at the Mile High Market Place.

“I thought these kids were a lot older than they are. These guys should have no problem doin’ somethin’ in this town.” - Floorwax - 103.5 the FOX Morning Show

“You guys have an old soul sound with a modern twist. It reminds me of Roger McGuinn meets Goo Goo Dolls.” - Ed Edwards - Master Engineer Summit Road Recording Studios
