Someone once remarked, having witnessed the awesome pop power of Edgy at the 12 Bar Club, London, that they were like "Shirley Bassey supported by the Buzzcocks." They might have had a point because Edgy aim to evoke Fifites Soho coffee bar rock, but with a Sixties pop Diva style and late Seventies sensibilities, at the same time avoiding Eighties synths and big hair, while embracing Nineties grungy guitars but definitely eschewing the Naughties vocoder, auto-tune generation.

Edgy were formed in 2001 and have gone through various shapes and sizes since then until in 2010 when Edgy mark 7.1 was assembled featuring Sarah Currant (vocals), Eddie Dyja (guitar), Richard Holford (bass) and Pot Blawat (drums).

Their album Go ManGo (named after text on a poster for 1950s British teen exploitation film Beat Girl and the depression lifting mango fruit) was released at a live happening on 24th January 2012.

The rest, as they say, is history.
