Eternal Vision

Eternal Vision was a funk-based hard rock/metal band based in New York City. The band performed mainly in the Northeast US from approximately 1988 through 1995, when they disbanded. The members were guitarist Patrick Bitbol (currently with Ghost and the Big Sky), bassist Frank LaPlaca (4Front, Buddha Brains), singer Jim Spinella (Buddha Brains), and drummer Joe Bergamini (4Front, Happy the Man).

The band combined various influences ranging from classic metal like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, and Pantera with more blues-based classic rock influences such as Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. EV also incorporated some progressive influences from the likes of Rush and Pink Floyd with a heavy dose of funky, fusiony rhythmic complexity inspired by Return to Forever, Tower of Power, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and even had a few tracks which current listeners would describe as "jam-band" style.

The band amassed a large following in the New York City area, and was a staple performer at legendary New York clubs in the early 90s such as CBGB, Danceteria, and Limelight. Although they were courted by various labels, the band never secured a record deal and parted ways in 1995. During their tenure they released four recordings: The Obsidian Butterfly (1990) (with original drummer William Struz), Earth Bone (1992), One Bullet One Solution (EP) (1994), and Last Century Shock (1994).

Fans of the band can hear all of the members currently still performing with their various projects. Patrick Bitbol leads an NYC-area band called Ghost and the Big Sky, LaPlaca and Spinella perform together in the Buddha Brains (www.buddhabrains.com), and Bergamini and LaPlaca play together in the instrumental progrock band 4Front (www.joebergamini.com).
