Hal Freedman

Hal Freedman has been a solo recitalist at colleges, universities and various
venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, as well as an
accompanist for students and faculty at the former New School of Music.
Beginning piano studies at age 8, Hal’s instructors were respected faculty
of such distinguished musical institutions as the Curtis Institute, the Julliard
School of Music, and the Moscow Conservatory. The knowledge that shaped
Hal as a musician can be traced back to the teachings of such musical
luminaries as Rudolph Serkin, Yakov Fliere, Heinrich Neuhaus and Franz Liszt.
Having served as a faculty member of major music schools and a music
college, Hal now teaches privately in Philadelphia. H e also founded and
participated in a number of regional chamber concert series and created
Philadelphia’s first musicians’ collective, bringing together Classical, Jazz, and
Folk musicians to operate a music school, a permanent performance venue,
and a community outreach program.
