Ho Bich Ngoc

Born on 13 April, Ho Bich Ngoc grew up in Ho Chi Minh City. When only six years old she attended classical piano lessons for the first time. Promptly, her singing talent was discovered. In continuation she always received high awards and was the winner of several music contests at school. At the age of fourteen and together with her sister, Ngoc joined Unplugged’97, a music competition for composing and singing in English held by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities and addressing young talents age sixteen and above. The team was called Girl and Girl and in Unplugged’97, apart from winning the fourth place, Girl and Girl received a lot of public attention. Consequently, Ngoc’s parents let her attend singing lessons with the purpose to improve her abilities and natural talent for music. When seventeen years old and a student of Vo Thi Sau Girl High School, Ngoc joined Television Voice Contest to evaluate her capacity in the context of performing for a big audience. She received the fourth best place and won a prize for the youngest competitor.

After graduating from high school, Ngoc attended the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City, and in 2003 returned to Television Voice Contest one more time. Craving for the highest place, she conquered the board of judges and audience alike, and was rewarded with leaving the competition as the winner. From that point on, Ngoc has pursued a professional career as a singer. She has chosen pop music as the style that best allows her for discovering and satisfying her musical passion.

Saddened over the loss of her beloved father but determined not to give in, Ngoc published her first album Harmony of Light in 2007. Harmony of Light, which also marked the partnership between Ho Bich Ngoc and producer & composer Quoc Bao, received a very positive echo from experts. In consequence, Harmony of Light won the award of Youngest Singer with Best Album in The Gold Album Event.

In 2009, Ngoc released her second album called The Next Step. Working with composer Thanh Tam, this time her appearance, style and music expressed modernism and liberalism. As with her first album, Ngoc again received a lot of attention and compliments for The Next Step. The song A New Day out of the album The Next Step won several awards at the Vietnam Song Event. In addition, it was celebrated as the Pop Song of The Year 2009.

In 2012, Ho Bich Ngoc opened Ngoc Ho Music Training Centre, a music school teaching piano, organ, guitar and singing in partnership with an array of highly talented and experienced teachers. When not busy with performing as a singer, Ngoc is teaching piano at the centre.

The name Ho Bich Ngoc is accompanied with cheerfulness due to the singer’s tenderness and closeness to the audience. Everyday Ngoc is pursuing her musical passion. Currently, she is also working on a new album that is planned to be published in 2015.
