Ian Michaels

Ian Michaels is an American Faith-based Symphonic Rock artist with a Jazz and World twist. He was born in Bakersfield, California on October 1st, 1957 and lived in Fresno and the Bay Area for the first 20 years of his life. He got his first vocal and piano lessons and gave his first vocal performance at the age of four. At ten, he was writing songs and received his first guitar when he was twelve.
In High School, he was listed in Who's Who in Music in American High Schools for his talent recognized by his Band and Choir Director.
At twenty-three, Ian was working on the east coast as a performer in restaurants and clubs. After a time of drugs and witchcraft, he came to faith in 1982 and has been writing faith-based songs ever since.
In '86, he moved to Israel where he lived for several months learning Hebrew and playing for various events in and near Jerusalem. While there, he had the opportunity to work as an actor for two Christian videos; one with American artist Dallas Holmes and the other with British artist Adrian Snell.
In '92, Ian attended a conference of Messianic Jewish Congregations and began assisting in the worship for various artists of that movement such as Paul Wilbur, Joel Chernoff, Marty Goetz and Barry and Batya Segal.
In '94, he took part in another music video where he was given a key role as the harmonica playing minstrel to open and close the footage of "Press On" by Billy Sprague.
In '96 BEYOND THE VEIL was released, Ian's first album of 14 originals co-produced with Michael J. Nelson.
In 2001, Ian began his work as the congregation leader of Beth Menuchah (House of Restoration) in Richmond, VA. Although stepping away from performance and recording, he continued to write songs for a sixteen-year span from 1996 to 2012.
In 2012, equipped with his own home studio, he produced an instrumental project called RENAISSANCE.
In 2015, Ian began recording songs for two projects simultaneously. PROCESS OF ILLUMINATION and NEATLY TIED RELIGION were released in the spring of 2016. Through the summer of 2016, Ian completed his fifth album entitled SHELTER released in October of 2016. A remixed release of RENAISSANCE was made available in December of 2016. Ian currently resides in the Ozarks with his wife, Nava, where he teaches as Rabbi of the House of Restoration.
