Jared McMillan

Jared's parents started him on music at a young age. His baby pictures prove that he started wearing headphones before he stopped wearing a diaper. A house full of stringed instruments and an upright piano were the beginnings of what would become a life long passion. Although Jared was a capable student in piano and violin lessons, his heart was truly sparked by his parents' Harmony H25 Bass Guitar and Fender Music Master Bass Amp. As soon as the old tube amp warmed up... a star was born.

As high school approached Jared was given his first electric guitar, and started lessons again. Ken Mowat taught Jared small portions of what he knew, as Jared couldn't keep up with the whole of Ken's guitar divinity. Once the basics were down, the two joined with Chad Whittington, Bruce Morrit, and Brian McBay, to form Absolute Zero... a high school sensation... if you were from Beamsville... in the early 1990's... and attended Great Lakes Christian High School.

Heavily influenced by punk, folk, and "Neil Young" genres, Jared began to write and perform his own music. Jared went on to perform and record with artists in Canada, the United States, and as far as China. His most significant project to date is a folk/children's album "Puttin' on Janamas", recorded for his three year old daughter. Jared states "After years of writing songs for girls, I finally found one worth devoting an entire album to"... that and he was sick of "Kid's Albums" being somewhat synonymous with "Bad Music".

Jared continues to write and perform on a number of stages (mostly in the Kingston area of Ontario, and usually with a ukulele nearby).
